October After Dark: Tampa Bay’s Best Evening Experiences

09/28/2026

October brings a different energy to Tampa Bay. As temperatures begin to ease and the days grow shorter, evenings become an invitation to get out and explore. From waterfront concerts and cultural events to seasonal Halloween celebrations, the region offers plenty of ways to enjoy the season after the sun goes down.

Music Under the Florida Sky

For music lovers, October brings some of Tampa Bay’s most anticipated outdoor events. The Clearwater Jazz Holiday returns to Coachman Park October 15–18 for its 47th year, bringing four days of jazz, blues, funk, soul, Americana, rock and other live music to the downtown waterfront. Evening performances include artists such as Chris Botti, Arturo Sandoval, Sheila E. & The E-Train, Big Sam’s Funky Nation and Larkin Poe.

In Tampa, Oktoberfest Tampa returns to Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park October 9–11, combining live entertainment, German-inspired food and festivities along the Hillsborough River.

An Evening of Art and Culture

St. Petersburg offers plenty of ways to spend an evening beyond the traditional dinner-and-a-movie routine. Imagine Museum has a full October lineup, including live music, hands-on stained-glass workshops, a Monsters & Makers Market, an enchanted tea party and a Halloween-inspired evening of music. Many of the events take place after regular museum hours, making them an easy way to add some art and culture to an October night out.

The Dalí Museum also offers its Dome After Dark: Surreal Nature experience on select Friday and Saturday evenings, giving visitors an opportunity to experience the museum's immersive dome programming after the galleries close.

Halloween Comes Out After Dark

Of course, October wouldn't be complete without a little spooky season. Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay returns on select nights throughout October, transforming the park after dark with haunted houses, scare zones, live entertainment and thrill rides in the nighttime atmosphere.

For something a little different, Shimmering Lights: Kingdoms of Lights runs October 8–31 at SunKissed Acres, where hundreds of thousands of lights transform the property into a medieval-inspired world of castles, dragons, forests and mythical creatures.

In St. Petersburg, a Candlelight: A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics concert is scheduled for October 24, pairing live music with the atmosphere of a candlelit setting.

And for those who prefer their spooky season with a little history, Tampa's historic Ybor City offers nighttime ghost tours that combine local history with tales of the area's haunted past.

Waterfront Nights

One of the best things about October in Tampa Bay is that enjoying the outdoors doesn't have to end when the sun goes down. Sunset cruises and nighttime experiences on the area's waterways offer a distinctly Florida way to spend an evening, with downtown skylines, waterfront neighborhoods and the bay providing the backdrop.

Clearwater Beach's Sunsets at Pier 60 continues through the end of 2026, bringing street performers, artisans and vendors to the beach each evening around sunset.

For something more active, nighttime clear-kayak experiences on Clearwater Beach offer another way to see the area's waterways after dark.

A Region That Comes Alive at Night

From live music and art to waterfront sunsets and Halloween traditions, October is a reminder that Tampa Bay's lifestyle doesn't end when the workday does. The region's mix of cultural attractions, outdoor spaces, entertainment and waterfront communities gives residents plenty of ways to make the most of an evening.

Whether you're looking for a lively night out, a family-friendly seasonal experience or a quiet evening watching the sunset, Tampa Bay offers plenty of ways to enjoy life after dark this October.
